I could write a grand introduction welcoming you to The Braided Circle. This is not that kind of post. I could even outline and plot out the post and the closing, not this time.
Matthew 596; Jesus then said to his disciples, “If any man will follow me, let him forsake himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
The reason being, this is a personal post. Not that I don’t care for or love the brethren. I do.
The thing is – I was an advocate for the homeless in the state of Michigan in Lansing as a matter of fact. That ends with this post. I am standing up for myself, for those like me and those that work with people like me.
In November of 2017 I was awarded SSDI (for those of you that don’t actually know what that is, Social Security Disability Insurance). The first thing I heard was, “Stop faking it.” That was from a couple I knew in the town I was living in. At times I am just like everyone else.
This past weekend – I was reminded that “I CAN’T stop faking it.” In January of 1990 I received two closed head injuries (my first recorded closed head injuries) in 2016 I received my last two closed head injuries. In all total I have seven recorded closed head injuries.
Since the first registered seizure I have been diagnosed with Epilepsy, Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures, Temporal Lobe & Nocturnal Seizures, Acute Psychosis, Depersonalization-Derealization Disorder – to name a few things doctors have come up with to explain away “Me”.
The thing is I am not accepting that as my life. I love my life. Yes, it’s an adventure.
What I do accept for my life is this found in the twelfth sentence of One Simple Truth – John 12; “But as many as received him, to them he gave power to be the sons of God, even to them that believe in his Name, *which are born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” I’m a son of God. That gives me the right to many things.
What about you?
The thing is I believe the Bible and what it has to say about “Me”. Not what others – whether they are “Christians,” “Jesus Freaks,” “Catholics,” “Baptists,” or “Non-Denoms” – say that I am.
I follow the Scripture. I follow the inerrant word of God, I’m a Scripturalist (that means we follow the Bible (not people)) along with my wife (who happens to be my care-giver), oh and I’m disabled.
You now know a little about me – let’s have some fun.
I am RR “Elroy” VanWoert and I am a Paladin.
